I LOVE this album. Singing these songs live with thousands in the city of Los Angeles was one of the most amazing things I've ever been a part of. (*****)

The Dark Knight (2008)

This movie did not disappoint.  Two and a half hours of nonstop entertainment. Heath Ledger was simply brilliant. I could not take my eyes off of the screen. The story, the depth of Bale as both Bruce Wayne and Batman, Ledger, and the entire superb cast were powerful and stirring. Great effects and pace. I saw it twice in under twelve hours. This is what Batman should have been all along. NOT a movie for young children so leave them at home. Although sinister and disturbing, the Joker character made me actually like him thanks to a fantastic script and unreal performance. The mannerisms, the movement the delivery.....WOW. See it in a theatre...the audience cheering is cool to be a part of.

Yes, I have a ticket

With all the buzz, this will surely be one for the record books. I am not about to pass up seeing it on the first night. I'll be sure to post a review tomorrow.

I finally finished it!

Painting is a very personal thing and portraits are wicked hard for me.  When I paint I am basically in this zone and many times I use my art to focus on praying.  Seriously, people think that is dumb when you mention it, but I just get to this place sometimes and I feel like nothing can touch me. Regardless of how bad the work turns out, it's the journey.   Anyway, I am especially uncomfortable painting kids because people really get protective.  I asked this lady at my church for a photo of her son to paint a picture for his graduation.  She was clearly freaked out at the idea and we haven't spoken since.  Get what I mean.  Anyway, a coworker of mine is a great photographer who happened to be kind enough to allow me to paint a portrait of his son for his wife's birthday present.  Their family is going through a great deal and I wanted so much for it to be great.  It isn't, but I have prayed over them with every stroke of my brush.  As I attach the image, please pray for this family.  I don't need to go into details, but please ask God to take care of them.  I am not sure of their faith but I am sure of my God and my heart just longs for them to know God loves them.

When you hit a creative roadblock....

just go with something that seems natural.  I'm stuck on one so I just went back to spray paint.

Summer Reading Club - weeks 4 and 5

During my vacation last week, I had time to catch up on some reading but chose to keep it strictly fiction.  Picture Perfect by Jodi Picoult -    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.  My sibling sent it to me and said it was "suspense" based.  Ha!  Laughably this is a dressed up romance and though well written, I was b o r e d.

Happy Birthday, Gus!

My baby (miniature schnauzer) turns 11 today.  Wow.  I mean it is getting harder to remember a time when I didn't have him.

You can of course expect more posts later today once he and I open his gift and he gets to eat his cake. (uh, yeah I got him a doggie cake :) )

Proverbs 30:7-9

Francis Chan issued this dare on his blog to pray Proverbs 30:7-9. Could you do it?

Together by Tom Sullivan with Betty White

So I finally read a non-work related book. A few weeks ago, someone I volunteer with gave me a book they thought I'd love. I actually did. :) The book was called Together and it was written by Tom Sullivan with Betty White. The story is fictional and centers around a young man who loses his sight. It explores his struggle to transition and accept how his life has changed. The main part of the transition in the book involves the amazing work of service dogs. This book is not just for dog lovers. It is a good reminder that God is revealing himself to us all the time and He uses even tragic situations to teach us of His grace. It's a quick read a very inspiring story.
